The name of this sofa carries deep cultural roots. It derives from the ancient identity system the Shona people of Africa once used to distinguish their clans — a system that gradually grew into something close to a totem in meaning. As the plural form of mutupo, the name echoes the way families today are composed with ever more complexity and freedom, while also carrying the warm promise of people coming together.

The sofa's substantial, grounded volume draws its inspiration from organic forms found in nature. Mountains, ripples, plants, and living creatures all share soft, unhurried curves; from them we distilled a unified natural vocabulary to build a continuous, coherent silhouette.
